Whispers in the Cedars conducts captivating cemetery tours at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson, Mississippi. Each year, this unique event allows visitors to explore the cemetery after dark, illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight. Encounter actor's portrayals of the deceased, sharing their stories of life and death, providing an immersive experience intertwined with local history. Our tours celebrate the many historical figures laid to rest here, even as far back as the Revolutionary War. We strive to preserve their stories and honor their legacies.
Wintergreen
As morning's first soft rays of light wash out across the land,
enfolds a venue in reverence held, where majestic cedars stand
With branches spread like angel's wings awash with mornings
dewdrops seems,a cloak of diamonds cast on green, great sentinels watching o'er
Where golden threads of sunlight seek, the hallowed ground at the ancient's feet
and the sound of breezes soft and sweet, like whispered voices from the boughs.
Watch o'er those of days bygone, with cherished memories etched in stone, where
a place on God's good earth is known, to paean a journey of each it's own, and laud a life's expiry.
These tranquil acres bestrewn with stones, where visitants speak in muffled tones,
in homage of the loved ones gone and listen to the whispering song, on the breeze like cherubs singing.
